Kim Shield 2009

Congratulations Sables! 1st Discovery won Kim Shield with a small margin of 200 points. Darren van Gool led Sables (Michael, Kenneth, Matthew, Gilad and Byron) to a long awaited victory.

We are all proud of you!

Well Done to Imtiaaz and Daniel Katzav, who led a patrol each (Leopards and Buffalos) for the first time.

The Results have not yet been released.

The  KIM SHIELD  has been in existence for over a decade. Over that time, many

Patrols have taken up the challenge to become the best Standing Patrol in the Gauteng

Province, and walk away with the coveted trophy.

The event will be held on the  16-17 May 2009  , at an undisclosed (as yet) venue in the

Southern Region - Gauteng. This challenge constitutes an incident hike, where you

and your patrol will be required to complete as many bases as possible.

We will be leaving the hall on Saturday, 16th May, morning at 05h30. If you are able to help with transport

this would be greatly appreciated. We will arrive back at the hall on Sunday, 17th May, at 15h30

This weekend should be considered as a Patrol hike and camp. You will be expected

to cater your own food and organise your own sleeping arrangements. All patrols will

be sleeping at a common point at the Challenge venue. For the hike, you will not be

required to take your camping equipment, but a day-pack is suggested with a packed

lunch and enough water (2 litres per person per day). Each patrol must supply their

own compass.

Directions to the venue will be issued in due course once you and your patrol have

accepted the challenge. The cost for KIM SHIELD will be  R50-00 per Scout  , which

includes camping fees, event badge and costs that cover running some of the bases.

Please remember that this does not include catering.

It is hoped that you and your patrol accept the challenge, and possibly at the end of  the challenge, hold the KIM SHIELD trophy aloft!
